Sketch Color Testing

I played around with some colors today - ( And tested out the new pen tablet I just got. coloring goes WAY faster when you aren’t working with a brick tied to a string!) I Scanned this napkin drawing I did awhile ago at a sushi place. (More stacked heads!)

I need to work out what I want to do for backgrounds. I never draw backgrounds, only characters, but since I want to get into painting again I need to figure out some good elements and overall style for that. I’ve been working on some clouds, ornate star things and bubbles.

Stay tuned for more tests before I get down to the canvas!

Sketching for paintings

Working on some ideas for new paintings. I’ve been drawing lots of these stacked characters nowadays. I like the idea of layering them almost like dessert toppings. It’s hard to tell but this one is pretty big (18×24). First time I really sketched this big, normally I project smaller drawings on to canvas with my opaque projector. I think for this show I’ll be working acrylic on paper. Stay tuned for more pics of what I come up with.

Nightmare Photo Booth

While wasting time surfing around the web today I came across a site called Sigost.com It’s a fun online photo booth site that lets you take photos using your web cam. It has some crazy effects you can use (warp, mirror, etc) and it keeps all your photos online for you (via cookie?) for you to look at later or to download. It also shows you the last 5 photos that were taken using the site. It’s pretty funny to see all the cute/wacky pics people are taking all over the world.

I immediately tried to make the scariest pictures I could.

To compare, I’ve put a nice picture here as well.
