When Michael from OSO Design House asked to come up with some designs for the Bax figure, one of the first ideas I came up with was a gumball machine. It hit me almost immediately because the perfectly round head plus the long body that pushes out at the bottom had almost exactly the same shape as one of these old school candy machines. The fact that with ABS material you could actually make the figure transparent sealed the deal and I created one of the most popular designs in Bax Series 1.
Skip forward about a year now: During a meeting, Michael pulls out a box of a brand new vinyl figures that one of his good friends has created. The figure is called Monskee (kind of a flatter, smaller munny) and features not designs by popular artists, but designs made in house by staff members. I was pretty surprised to see this figure title “Kandy.” I couldn’t believe how similar it was to my piece. I was a bit offended at first but then actually became proud of what I had done.
I created something special enough that other people wanted to copy it.

Hey everyone! Just finished the opening of the Toronto Bax Show and it was a huge hit! Tons of people came out, kids made custom Bax bears, and the DJ spun music all night long! The whole thing went even better than I hoped mostly because of Keep 6’s great curator Rafi. Check out all the pictures here. I had a great time in Toronto catching up with all my old friends and making some great new friends.

I’ll see if I can get some video of interview I did for the Space Channel and post it here on the blog. Time to go back to sleepy Vancouver and back to work.

I’ve setup a Bax Launch party happening at the end of this month in Toronto. Hope you all can make it! Check the Bax blog for all the details.
Just a quick post to let you know you can now buy my Gumball and Scarybear Bax Bear figures online.

The good people at My Plastic Heart have opened up some of their blind boxes

I’ve been working with a new Vancouver based design toy company, OSO Design House on their first project, Bax Bear.

Bax is a brand new 3 inch ABS collectible platform toy. Series 1 features designs by some of the top toy designers in the biz. Kei Sawada, Tim Tsui, Camilla d’Errico and more! I have 2 designs in Series 1. Scarybear Bax (based on my Scarybear character from my comic, Comic Strip) and Gumball Bax.

The figures come with key rings so you can wear them as accessories.
